From Dave Wright:

Despite the slightly inclement weather we had a very successful morning of running races on May 15th.

First off was the children’s race for 0-6 years which saw 21 runners doing a lap of the recreation ground.

Next were the 7-9 year olds running 2 laps of the rec.-approximately half a mile. 23 runners took part in this race.

At 10-30 the main race started by the football club and over 150 runners took on the usual 5 mile route with the big climb up Inkpen road stretching the field out considerably. First runner home in a time of 27 minutes 10 seconds was Mark Vardy, which was the third time in a row he has come first, having been successful in 2018 and 2019. First lady home was Laura Nurse from Newbury in a time of 33 minutes 1 second.

First Kintbury villager was Hannah Rees from Harold Road in a PB. of 36 minutes 24 seconds and first male villager was Emiliano Espinar of Hop Gardens in 36 minutes 28 seconds

A big thank you to all the marshals and timekeepers as well as Moshe sorting the results and Nicki organising all the helpers. Lots of people enjoyed the cakes afterwards. We had lots of donations for the prizegiving including Hungerford Tesco.

Thank you too to Kintbury Bowls club for use of their changing rooms and Kintbury Football club for mowing the grass all around the rec. and the Preschool for organising the teas and cakes.

The 2 mile fun run only attracted 7 runners for a 1 mile run towards St Cassians and back the same way. All the runners were 10-12 years and I hear they all enjoyed it! First home was Lorenzo Moss in 14 minutes 39 seconds and first girl was Imogen Rimmer in 17 minutes 58 seconds.

We hope to have raised over £1000 for the PTA to help with projects at Kintbury St Marys School.

Thanks
Dave
